Father’s Day 2023

It’s been a special tradition of creating homemade cards for Father’s Day. So far we’ve done golf, fishing, and grilling themed cards. This year’s card is all about growth. We want to honor Matt for not only being a provider for our family, but also remind him of the role he plays in the growth and training of our children. I love including the boys’ prints on the cards, and this year, I used their fingerprints.

This card was so simple to make. I printed the template on cardstock paper then used watercolor to paint the grass, stems, and centers of the zinnias. Once dry, I used the boys’ fingerprints to create the petals. Any paint or ink pad will work, but I chose to paint directly on their index finger using spill proof paint. I reapplied paint between each fingerprint. Once the flowers were complete, I used a thin tip Sharpie to write the boys’ names and ages.

We’ve gifted Matt many children’s books about dads over the years, but this year I mixed things up and grabbed the book The Intentional Father by Jon Tyson. I’ll sign the inside cover with the year and a note of encouragement. I also grabbed a few polos from Vineyard Vines while they’re 40% off.

This year, my prayer for Father’s Day is for Matt to feel honored, challenged, and reminded of how important he is to our family and how integral he is in the lives of our kids! I hope you enjoy celebrating the dad in your home!
